This title describes a design process which can be used by practitioners in busy commercial environments called GUIDE - Graphical User Interface Design and Evaluation. It contains techniques (usability requirement specification, task modelling, object modelling, style guide definition, GUI design, prototyping, and evaluation), integrated together into a coherent framework. 5.0 out of 5 stars A very practical and useful book for a Software Engineer, 23 Mar 2000
By A Customer
A very practical and daily useful book for a real Software Engineer. This book is not just about designing. It is about Analysing, it is about all concepts of USER Interface designing. Don't miss it!

2.0 out of 5 stars A very average and outdated summary, 5 Oct 1999
Introduces a particular methodology for GUI design, some of which is helpful. Uses very stilted, repetitive prose. Ignores the WWW - need I say more?

3.0 out of 5 stars Useful? Yes. Worthwhile? Maybe not..., 3 Oct 2006

(REAL NAME)
This is a very formulaic book that might be better suited to blind instruction-followers - plenty of bullet points, lists and digrams. Whilst it has a very strong focus on the analysis (a good thing) I was only able to take away about two pages of stuff that I felt of benefit in the first 50 pages. Published in 1995, it misses out the last decade of development. This naïvite is very obvious at times.

Interesting, but don't expect it to work miracles.
