My only purpose for purchasing this book was the obvious one, to become more intelligent. However, the author presents a holistic approach which has improved all aspects of my living. I eat better since I now know the importance diet has on the brain. I also do weird things which the author recommends, like boil water with my gold rings in it and then drink the water. The only thing that I don't recommend doing is the spinning. It's supposed to give your brain a "bath." I get too sick and don't think it's worth doing even to make you smarter.

In writing "The Care and Feeding of Your Brain" I came across good evidence that the mental exercises described in this book can be quite helpful if used regularly. The book is an easy read and much fun! Good Luck!...Ken Giuffre MD ("The Care and Feeding of Your Brain")Career Press 1999.

I found this work to be a very comprehensive survey of many current themes in mind/brain development. He gives many practical suggestions so that these can be explored. The most valuable use of the book is, I think, to do the explorations and then to follow up using the references which are provided for each chapter. In general I liked the book's point of view, and enjoyed it most when Leviton let himself comment more fully on the subjects he was surveying. I write this review because I actually do almost all the stuff he writes about - nootropics, mind machines, pranayama, chi gung, sound therapy, brain gym, etc. It has made my life delightful! It was pleasant finding an author who had made the same connections!
