Small signal microwave amplifier design is an important aspect of microwave engineering, but there are very few books devoted solely to this topic. It usually forms part of a wider text, such as Pozar. For that reason Gonzalez is somewhat a specialist book, but if I had to recommend a book on this topic, Gonzalez would be it, especially in its second edition. If you want to learn the basic theory of small-signal microwave amplifier, then you could do much worse than read this book (even if it is a bit expensive to buy).
