5.0 out of 5 stars The ultimate solaris tuning book, 3 Jan 2000
This book provides great insight on how to tune your Solaris server for maximum performance. Cockcroft shows he's a total master of sparc system tuning and knows how to bring that knowledge to the reader in a well laid out book. However this book is not for beginners, nor is it a general unix performance tuning book. It is required reading if you want to administer Solaris servers , whether it is on the internet or on your local LAN.

4.0 out of 5 stars Great book for in depth System info, needs info for X86!, 18 Jun 1999
By A Customer
This is a great book for an understanding of Solaris Systems, it covers a wide variety of topics and features. There isn't alot of tunining info in it though, and it seems more geared to understanding your system rather than changing. One thing I disliked was the lack of coverage of Solaris for Intel Versions.
