4.0 out of 5 stars Very good book if you begin programming in MFC, 4 Jul 2001
By A Customer
I bought this book not even knowing what MFC was, although I knew C++. I advice you already know C++ before you buy this book, although there are several appendices on C++ and Visual Studio. I own the book for about half a year now and I think I know almost everything about MFC. Recently I was hired to do a 3-month project in MFC based on examples I showed and I'm only 20 years old! I think this book is really good in learning MFC from scratch, although if you plan to use OLE or OpenGL with it, you should buy a more specialized book. The examples in the book and on the CDROM are well documented and not to elaborate, they really show what's it all about in the current chapter. It's a shame the examples don't use header files, wich requires for a bit more work if you want to program in a decent way. The book handles everything from windows, dialogs, GDI, Debugging, DDX and DDV, splash screens and many more. I'm really happy I bought this book and if you want to start programming in Windows I'd advice you to buy it too!
