3.0 out of 5 stars Not too good, 4 Dec 2001

This book is a bit of a disappointment for me. The best part is probably the animated menu. Other than that, the other examples are not very practical, particularly its "solution for e-commerce".

About half of the book is made up of Appendices, but due to poor layout, they're quite useless. It would have been better if they're scrapped and replaced with more advanced examples as well as links to online references.

In short, this book is good if you're really new to DHTML, but it'll quickly outlive its usefulness.

4.0 out of 5 stars A good basic guide - exactly what it says on the cover, 3 Oct 2001
By S. Tolputt "Sherry" (Norfolk, UK) - See all my reviews

This book is well-presented and easy-to-understand. It covers CSS in detail and has a useful, comprehensive appendix of text attributes and java objects. It goes on to give examples of how to use CSS to control DHTML for animated menus and interactive quizzes - the most common uses of DHTML.
These are the essentials alright - no frills, no bouncing objects around the screen, but very useful, and more importantly, with cross-browser fixes.
