4.0 out of 5 stars A very suitable, appropriate high school text book, 21 Sep 2000
By A Customer
This review is from: Physics (Paperback)
Having used and completely relied on this book for my high school physics course, I reommend this book for those who find difficulties in bridging between GCSE to A-Level/IB physics.

With an appropriate amount of illustration, this is a typical classical American first year university text book. This makes it not only useful in high school, but also a good reference in first year high school.

A drawback is that it does not use calculus in its treatment of problems, which can lead to difficulty later on. Overall, this is a good main source that requires some more advanced complimentary books.

5.0 out of 5 stars Best book of Physics Ever, 3 Oct 2008
By Jan Zaucha - See all my reviews
(REAL NAME)
It is wrtiien in such a way that you actually understand the problems and it is also interesting- making you want to know more. The language is easy and straightforward and the problems are of 3 levels: the I and II are easy and the level III are a bit more challenging

4.0 out of 5 stars Covers Most of Physics, but English is confusing, 7 Dec 2001
By A Customer
I got this book from my school and am using it with the IB Physics HL Program. The book has a huge emphasis on Mechanics and Kinematics. About 1/3 of the book is based on mechanics. It covers, electricity, magentism, astrophysics, thermodynamics, basic principles in the rest of the book. The English is ery confusing, and isn't a book that could keep you awake all night reading. (Maximum pages i can read before going to sleep : 3 pages)

It also is littered with pictures, from stars to diagrams of thermodynamics!
