Learn JavaScript fast, as you build two Web sites that reflect today's most common scenarios: a company selling products and educating visitors; and a content site selling ads and subscriptions. Coverage includes: detecting browsers and platforms; dynamic content creation; image rollovers; pulldown menus; logins; error handling; JavaScript windows and frames; drill-down navigation; and much more. The sites are posted on the Web, so you can reuse the code, and see how your pages should look -- and work! 1.0 out of 5 stars A confusing and patchy book, 21 Mar 2001
By real@pml.ac.uk (Plymouth, Devon) - See all my reviews
A brought this book over three months ago and I have to say im non the wiser. It is aimed more at the programmer with experience and not as easy as they say it is. The scripts are long and not to the point, im afraid i was extremily dissapointed and have learnt more from web resources.

3.0 out of 5 stars Better books available - overpriced for what's on offer., 23 Oct 2000
By A Customer
I teach the subject, but am always on the lookout for someone else's opinion and tips. I bought this book on the strength of an original review, but must admit to being very disappointed - sorry boys - and at the same time it's grossly overpriced for what it offers. A far better book is JavaScript For The World Wide Web, by Tom Negrino and Dori Smith - and it's a lot cheaper to buy...

5.0 out of 5 stars Simply brilliant. It gets to the core without skimping, 27 Mar 2000
By Mr. Michele Neylon (Carlow, Ireland) - See all my reviews
(REAL NAME)
Unlike most computer books that I have picked up in the past, this book is written in good, clear English. The authors do not presume previous knowledge, but they do expect you to have some idea of web design. They not only show you how to do things, but teach you the elements of the coding that makes it possible. I didn't feel like I was being treated like an idiot - which made me feel better, and I also felt that I was learning a lot - which was a nice change. So I give it my thumbs up!
