Product Description

Product Description

Hopelessness took him in its grip. He knew he was wandering in circles but he had ceased to care. All he wanted to do was drink. His skin began to smart. His feet were on fire...It's the Second World War and Biggles is in the desert, defending the vital air-route from the West coast of Africa to the Middle East. Urgent stores, dispatches and important officials and officers are regularly flown over this route, but lately a number of planes have unaccountably failed to arrive at their destinations.

From the Back Cover

ABANDONED!

Defending the vital air-route across Africa from a secret oasis base, Biggles and his team are at the mercy of the desert and all its dangers. But fighting an enemy as wily as the German ace Von Zoyton, there's always a risk of being shot down in the waterless wasteland.

Biggles is back! Now classic fiction, the action-packed adventures of cult hero and flying ace Squadron Leader James Bigglesworth are available in new editions for another generation.

5.0 out of 5 stars Second time around, 16 Mar 2008
By Ann Brown (Hampshire. England) - See all my reviews
I read many of the Biggles stories as a youngster in the early 1960's. I am delighted they are now available again and find them just as exciting and the perfect antidote from a gruelling day in the office. This is a particularly good example of the very high standard of writing from this author.

5.0 out of 5 stars yet more fantastic reading!, 8 Mar 2002
This, as are all af Capt. W. E. John's Biggles books, is an outstanding read. A gripping adventure, as soon as i had begun reading i just had to continue to see what would happen next!! Great action throughout - how Biggles, Algy and Ginger get out of some of their many scrapes is amazing. A must for all biggles fans!

I found the book very interesting. It has lots of action in it. I'd recommend it to children aged 9 and up. The beginning and end are really exciting. W.E.Johns is a great author and I think you'll really love his books.
