Synopsis
On the hottest day of the summer of 1934, thirteen-year-old Briony Tallis sees her sister Cecilla strip off her clothes and plunge into the fountain in the garden of their country house. Rich descriptions and vivid dialogue paint a narrative of pain, lies and much regret, with a finale that is both nostalgic and liberating.
