Product Description

Hooker, Azzie, Erica and the rest all play cricket in their spare time, but they've never taken it very seriously until now. Kiddo, one of their school teachers, suggests they form an official team and play proper matches - and Glory Gardens C.C. is formed. Hooker, as captain, soon finds out that cricket teams weren't built in a day: some players squabble, some can't catch, and some have tantrums and go home at half-time! So will Glory Gardens go all out for victory ...or will they be out for a duck?

5.0 out of 5 stars Howzat?.....Definitely a winner, 12 July 1999
By A Customer
An excellent book for introducing children to the game of cricket. Nicely balances a good story line with reminders about technique, rules and jargon about cricket. Don't know who enjoyed it more, me or my son! I've got the next books in the series on order now.

4.0 out of 5 stars Fun and enjoyable for all, 31 Jan 1999
By A Customer
Bob Cattell's book Glory in the cup is simpley a great book that anyone will love, it has all the cricketing terms, and easy-to-understand pictures. If you've never picked up a cricket bat then even you will love it. You don't have to know anything about cricket. The story involves Hooker who loves cricket, he and his freinds form a cricket team with the help of the coach Kiddo. Overall a brilliant book. Tom Gardner

5.0 out of 5 stars Glory Gardens saved my childhood!, 19 Jan 2008
By confused tourist (London , England) - See all my reviews
I have very fond memories of the Glory Gardens series, having read a lot of sporting fiction as a kid I would definitely consider this the best of the series' I read. Brilliantly written with some infinitely memorable characters - Frankie, Clive and Ohbert spring to mind - I would thoroughly recommend these books to any kid with an interest in cricket.
