5.0 out of 5 stars Pure Inspiration, 24 Nov 2001
By A Customer
Denise Lewis shot to fame after finishing second in the 1996 Atlanta Olympic Games. Since then she has gone from strength to strength and has become one of the best heptathletes of all time, winning the Commonwealth Games, European Championships and 2000 Sydney Olympic gold medal. "Personal Best" tells the story of how the Wolverhampton girl from a one-parent family became one of the most influential women in athletics today.
The book covers every aspect of her life, from the story of the long line of strong, wise women in her family, right up to the problems she had during the Edmonton World Championships in 2001. Throughout her story, Lewis describes some of her more difficult times, some sad times, times when she has struggled and, of course, times of joy. "Personal Best" will leave you feeling inspired and full of hope for the future of British athletics.

2.0 out of 5 stars stick to what you know best, 4 Nov 2009
From what I managed to read of this it is worthy but dull as you might expect from someone whose entire focus was on athletics at the expense of developing other areas. Denise Lewis is an inspiration but sadly not as a writer.

Only for the truly devoted. Otherwise find a recording and watch her compete instead.
