5.0 out of 5 stars It's All A Matter Of Balance, 22 Feb 2002
...I found several of the B&B's within this very valuable book, off the map yet alone off the track. My wife and I used it on our Touring Honeymoon and I have used it to find the most wonderful places to stay when I'm away on business. I would thoroughly recommend it. Yes - of course there are guest houses on main roads. We stayed in the only room above a pub in the heart of Bridgenorth (Salop) but what a room - fabulous. An essential item in the glove box of anyone touring Engalns and Wales.

1.0 out of 5 stars Misleading, 7 Nov 2001

If you buy this book expecting the B&Bs listed to indeed be "off the beaten track" you will be sorely disappointed. The title and text conjures up visions of B&Bs tucked away in rural areas away from the tourist hub, however the reality is that they can be based anywhere, including on busy main roads, as I discovered. Save your money.

Nothing special contained in this book. Would definitely recommend the AA's book above this one. Didn't even think the places listed were 'off the beaten track'.
