4.0 out of 5 stars Charles Dickens meets Isaac Asimov - 2064 AD costume drama, 20 Dec 1999

Quite a tour-de force, the hero writing to his sister about a town he calls Wellfleet (a wonderfully accurate portrayal of Hastings, in fact) and his increasing involvement with the locals. Then, hints of darker things emerge, the musical leitmotiv of the novel moves into sinister areas and we're off into an intriguing and complex science fiction novel. Intelligent and thought-provoking stuff.
