4.0 out of 5 stars Another good read, 5 Jul 2000
By A Customer
I think that yet again Chris Ryan has done himself proud by writing a very good novel. Yes, it may be slow in some parts but overall this is another fast paced, gritty story. Once again Ryan has allowed us to understand Geordie Sharp's character and the amazing skill and intellect the special force opertaives are shown to have through many SAS books. I look forward to any books Ryan writes in the future.

3.0 out of 5 stars A good, non-taxing holiday read., 12 April 2001
The Kremlin Device is great if all you want is a credible, innovative plot that's easy to follow. In other words, an ideal holiday read! Some of the more established thriller/crime writers have fallen into the trap of producing over complicated stories with a multitude of characters and endings that are cobbled together in indecent haste. This criticism cannot be levelled at Ryan although the ending of the Kremlin Device is the least plausible and satisfying part of the book. I will certainly give him another chance !

5.0 out of 5 stars An excellent, well paced thriller, 25 Jun 1999
By A Customer
Another title from Chris Ryan, much in the same well paced, and detailed style as his other fictional works. This book sees Geordie Sharpe and an SAS team seconded to train an elite Spetnaz unit in anti-mafia warfare, and of course the western superpowers decide that it is an ideal opportunity to carry out some potentially deadly work under the guise of their training mission. The thing about Chris Ryan's work is that it is so full of detail (detail from his SAS training and experience no doubt), that it is hard not to be thoroughly absorbed into the action from the very beggining, and this book is no exception. The book is set at an excellent pace, with plenty of twists and turn, and enough detail to keep most would-be SAS troopers happy, all in all an excellent read. One more thing though, the last two pages of the book will really make you think...could they really be there...and just how much of the book is based on fiction....? Read it and you'll see what I mean. Don't miss it.

3.0 out of 5 stars Lacked continuity
I thought the story was good but like many of the SAS genre, these guys are obviously running out of ideas for plots. Usual good bits but the book just didn't gel together for me.
