4.0 out of 5 stars Gripping (but flawed) computer "thriller", 29 Aug 2000
By A Customer
This is a good light read for something like the plane. It's marketed as a Silicon Valley "thriller", but it's both more and less than this: more because of the characters and information about computing, and less because it didn't for me quite have that "I must turn the page" quality that I associate with true thrillers. There were a few points about the plot that didn't quite make sense to me, as well. Still, I recommend this book. But how quickly things date in computing ...

5.0 out of 5 stars An fun, fast paced novel, 4 May 1999
By A Customer
A great novel of interest to those within the IT industry and anyone interested in the workings of Silicon Valley. The story is gripping and realistic.

5.0 out of 5 stars Brilliant, Inspiring and Unputdownable, 17 Feb 1999
By A Customer
From the very first chapter this book grabs the reader. It's vivid descriptions of silicon valley made me feel as if I knew the place. It brilliantly handles the issue of technical language for non techies. One of the only book I've read where I was expecting that extra little twist right up to the last paragraph. If you want to be the next Bill Gates read this

5.0 out of 5 stars Interesting
An interesting, geek-humoured light story which feels so much like it could be a true story. Fun and very lifelike characters and settings make this a fun read.

5.0 out of 5 stars A good read, if a bit dated.
I can see at the time why there would be a lot of interest in this novel as much of it would be new and unknown outside IT circles. Read more

5.0 out of 5 stars Really gripping
I found the this novel was one of the most gripping books I have read, and it is really funny and clever.

3.0 out of 5 stars Plodding
The characterisations are well observed but the story was less thangripping. A good read for travel but not the book that will keep you up until the birds start chirping. Read more

4.0 out of 5 stars Gripping Silicon Valley thriller
Po Bronson's prose is sharp; his observations keen and funny; his characters are three-dimensional and engaging - and the plot is fast, furious and totally realistic. Read more

4.0 out of 5 stars Rainmakers hit hard times
This book is cool. Maybe not as cool as "The First $20 Million" but cool all the same. Set in the ivory towers of the US futures trading companies, Bombardiers follows... Read more
