5.0 out of 5 stars Every woman should read this, 9 Mar 2004
This review is from: Men in Love (Paperback)
It is this kind of book, rather than the contradictory worlds of men's and women's magazines, that we should be reading to promote openness between the sexes. I have always been a little sensitive about what I previously considered to be men's attitudes towards women. Like many women, I had the unspoken fear that men didn't fall in love as deeply as we did and that they were much more likely to be unfaithful. However, reading this book gave me a lot of insights into how men think, and the differences- and similarities- between 'us' and 'them'. This is a book of fantasies- if you're looking for sex you won't be disappointed- but it is also a book that made me feel both less insecure and more understanding. Some of these fantasies are a little shocking, but none of them are cruel, and if you have a particular aversion to a certain area of sexuality you can always skip the relevant chapter (although all subjects are treated with sensitivity). As the author suggests, men really do love women, and for this affirmation alone all women who want to understand men better should read this book.

4.0 out of 5 stars Quite unusual and very enjoyable..., 2 Mar 2005
This review is from: Men in Love (Paperback)
I bought this book out of pure curiosity. What is it that men really think, really dream of? Nancy Friday has broken new ground with her books exploring sexual fantasies of both women and men; their meaning, their origin... The fantasies themselves are complemented by short yet thoughtful analysis - no judgement here, just a curious mind. In the introduction to this book Nancy Friday states that she found some of the fantasies submitted difficult - I dismissed her comments out of hand (twenty years on etc!) but in reading found some material challenging too which goes to show - it is easier to accept 'wild' thoughts from one's own gender... I would highly recommend this book - I found it fascinating and informative; and very good to read when alone in bed (it has to be said).

5.0 out of 5 stars Erotic, exciting, eyeopening - to be shared amongst friends!, 11 Feb 2000
By A Customer
This review is from: Men in Love (Paperback)
I have read all but Forbidden flowers in this series of books and this one is my favourite. I guess it's typically because it gives a more acurate account of what a man really feels about sex and how he would like it (even if he can't have it). A man might say he prefers My Secret Garden or Women on Top for similar reasons. I wasn't surprised at what I read, I was thoroughly excited at the honesty of the contributions. If you want to know more about how a man sees a woman (sexually) and it is something you could discuss or build upon; knowing the facts - this could save, improve or make many a relationship - you'd have fun trying non the less. I read and discuss this and Nancy's other books with a close and open minded male friend, and occassionally with my husband!
