Amazon.co.uk Review
Have you ever wondered what your cats get up to when they go out at night? Do they just sit in the garden and watch the world go by, or do they travel into the night on wild adventures that take them to faraway places that human eyes have never seen?

The Golden Cat is a follow up to the highly successful The Wild Road and is the fairytale story of Tag the tabby cat, who after the death of his mentor Majicou inherits the task of the caretaker of the wild roads. When two of the King and Queen's kittens goes missing, Tag is asked to find them. One of the three kittens is the famous Golden Cat, but which one is it? Tag soon finds himself on yet another perilous journey across the wild roads with Leonora the third kitten in tow.

It's obvious that King has a great love for the feline species, which shines out with great warmth from her writing. Observational detail rubs shoulders with moments of comedy strong enough to evoke a reaction from the hardest of hearts and elements of high drama as King delves into the darkest side of vivisection and animal cruelty. A great read in its own right and a worthy follow-up to the Wild Road. --Elly Russell

Review
"A magical tale . . . Part feline Watership Down and part highly original adventure story, it shows there's more to the fantasy genre than goblins, wizards, and improbably proportioned women."
--The Daily Mirror (London)
"This splendid sequel to The Wild Road features an unforgettable cast of fur and blood characters on a globe-trotting mission of rescue--and deftly establishes author Gabriel King as a new master of epic fantasy."

5.0 out of 5 stars Utterly Superb!, 6 Jun 2000
By A Customer
After reading 'The Wild Road' I couldn't wait to read the sequel 'The Golden Cat'. I didn't think the descriptive writing could get any better, but it did. After having reviewed 'The Wild Road' I knew I wanted to do an on-line review of this. It was superb to find what happened to Tag and co. The similarities to my own cats are there again in this book. The heroic fight of the cats against all the cruelties of the human world again made me cry and sometimes thoroughly ashamed to belong to the human race. So as not to spoil it too much, for those that haven't read it, I found the most emotional part was when Stilton (who had been bred in captivity for experimentation) was finally free, yet ill, said 'I don't mind if I die now, after all, I've seen all this'. Thankyou to the 2 who make up 'Gabriel King', I was thrilled to read your comments on-line and I can't wait for 'The Knot Garden'. Please don't stop writing, yours are the only 2 novels I have been enthralled to finish in the last 10 years! Thankyou Rebecca from Tetbury p.s I've got my husband addicted too, he's currently half way through 'The Golden Cat'

5.0 out of 5 stars tag, the majico,cy, dustbin,one for sorrow,all live NOW!, 9 Jun 1999
By A Customer
like the wild roads before, this book takes you on a journey.Looking for love sealink returns to the usa.The king and queen have 3 kittens>and all is not well with the wild roads still. no one will ever guess the twists this book will take.i was hooked to the last page.and still wanted more.I1m not a great fan of "journey" tales.but tag and co come to life like only garry killworth`s midnights sun, or frost dancer, have ever done. This book was written by a CAT. there is no other explanation. The details, history, and lives of this band of hero`s, is so well written it must be a winner of any book awards. The story is so complex, yet the writting is so easy, the reader will be hard pressed to put it down. Now when i see cats about, or any of the other creatures in this story, i think a little differently about thier lives , needs , and adventures. this book is dedicated inside to all the cats who have died in labratories. This book should be read in schools up and down any country. If we dont learn from reality, then maybe fiction will make us sit up and see whats going on.

4.0 out of 5 stars The Golden Cat, 30 Nov 2004
By linda (, ayrshire United Kingdom) - See all my reviews
A wonderful fantasy which one minute had me laughing out loud and the next minute reduced me to tears. Not my normal type of book, but decided to give it a try as I am a cat lover. Was not disappointed, although I wish I had read the first book to learn a bit more of the background.Could identify with previous pets I myself have owned and now own.
