For those that don't know, Northumbria was an ancient British kingdom, stretching at it's peak from the Humber to the Forth - now the term Northumbria most commonly refers to the old (pre 1974) English counties of Durham & Northumberland. This book is jam packed with stunning photographs of the area.

Lee Frost is without doubt a great photographer, he obviously spent a great deal of time in taking the pictures for this book - and how it shows! Everything that there is to see of note in Northumbria is here - Castles, Coastline, Moorland, Churches.

The preface is by Eric Robson, a local broadcaster of many years standing - that preface together with Lee's photographs makes this publication the essence of Northumbria and it's inhabitants on paper.

This is the ideal book for someone who's left the area to remind them of home, or as a gift to a friend who may never be able to see the splendour for themselves. There are few books that I've bought multiple copies of and this is one of them - I've sent copies to France & the US to name 2 and the recipients - though neither recipient are native Northumbrians - both appreciated the splendour of the area and the excellence of the photography.

For those keen on photography there is a brief section at the rear of the book, where Lee reveals some of his professional 'tricks'.

i bought this book for a friend in Florida who has never been outside the United States and he was fascinated with it and greatly admired the photography.
