Product Description

Review

Schumacher receives full-colour, large-format, glossy hardback treatment. All that is surprising about this exercise in contemporary sporting hagiography is that it hasn't happened before. Like David Beckham, Schumacher inspires devotion from converts and deep loathing from heathen unbelievers. This is not a book for unbelievers, but it will enthral and delight Schumacher's fans. It is full of high quality photographs and promises plenty of revelations about the private life of the man behind the wheel. But not so many, presumably, that Schumacher's considerable mystique and charisma are utterly dissipated. The Ebury team, as usual, has produced a book finished to exemplary standards: the Ferrari of consumer publishing.

The Bookseller

'The first official book and one that will undoubtedly be lapped up by the legions of F1 fans. Beautifully produced.'

5.0 out of 5 stars A stunning insight into the personal life of Schumi, 10 Jun 2003
If your a true fan of Michael Schumacher, this book is an absolute must. All the important parts into his career, and even his personal life, are beautifully illustrated by the author.

Schumacher is continually branded a cheat, and a liar by a selection of people. Nothing could be further from the truth. When you finish the book, you come to realise that he is the most Misinterpreted man in Formula 1 history. The book remains impartial throughout, it's not all one sided, as Michael's bad times in F1 are all talked about in detail.

It is uquestionably the best book produced on Schumacher, and a must for all committed Michael Schumacher fans, like myself.

2.0 out of 5 stars Good if you like pictures., 3 Jan 2004
By A Customer
I am am big schumacher fan butI was disappointed with this book because it contains mostly pictures. If you split this book into thirds, the first 3rd is writing and the last 2/3rds are all pictures with no writing. Very disappointing I don't know why others have given it 5 stars.

5.0 out of 5 stars Forza Michael!, 8 Jun 2003

For an autobiography, this isn't preachy or arrogant as a lot of them are.

Michael comes across as a very down to earth guy, who loves his family. He talks enthusiastically about Ferrari and his relationships with various people in the team. My favourite part is his diary of his Suzuka weekend in 2000. You really get the feeling of what it must have been like. Mostly the book focuses on the Ferrari years but there are some good stories about his Bennetton career. I did notice that he doesn't say too much about his collisions with Hill and Villeneuve, but that has been written about many times anyway.

I've given 5 stars, but the book is a little short in word terms, and there are a few too many photos when Michael could have written some more. He and his assistant have written in a very entertaining way and kept me attentive all the way through. Overall this is a very good buy, and a must for all Schumi fans!

2.0 out of 5 stars Great photos, poor narrative
I should have read reviews first, clearly. This is just a bunch of photos with the odd page of text. Certainly not the biography I was hoping it would be.
