Review
Schumacher receives full-colour, large-format, glossy hardback treatment. All that is surprising about this exercise in contemporary sporting hagiography is that it hasn't happened before. Like David Beckham, Schumacher inspires devotion from converts and deep loathing from heathen unbelievers. This is not a book for unbelievers, but it will enthral and delight Schumacher's fans. It is full of high quality photographs and promises plenty of revelations about the private life of the man behind the wheel. But not so many, presumably, that Schumacher's considerable mystique and charisma are utterly dissipated. The Ebury team, as usual, has produced a book finished to exemplary standards: the Ferrari of consumer publishing.
