5.0 out of 5 stars Brain Juice, 11 Sep 2006
This review is from: Little Genius: Brains (Hardcover)
I bought this book on a friend's recommendation and the kids (6 and 4) absolutely love it! So, in fact, do I. It's written in a way this age group can really relate to, likening the brain to things that they have seen and touched - toast, eggs and so on. This gives them a real grasp as to what's going on inside. The tips for memorising things are brilliant (we have no problem remembering what Saturn looks like now). But the best bit is the concept of "brain juicing" - how to make good brain juice and bad brain juice. This has been a great help in persuading my 4 year old to eat up all his lunch rather than nag for rubbishy snacks later in the day. When he wants too much junk I cheerfully suggest we make some bad brain juice to see what it's like, which immediately turns him off the idea. The book is great in making the kids want to look after themselves, without being lecturing, and pointing out that everyone's brain works differently and that people are good at different things. The illustrations are really whacky and great fun. Will definitely be buying "Little Genius: Bones".

Wow. This a fantastic book. My Children really loved it. My youngest son so enjoyed it that he 'marched' it off to his nursery and now they want to include it in their book collection! Can't wait to get the next book "Smile".

This is a fantastic book. As a physiotherapist I would highly recommend this book to other parents.
My children absolutely loved it and refer to it often.
They especially liked the bit with the splodge!
It's both educational and funny, explaining a relatively complex subject in such a simple, humorous way that children can understand.
My four year old son took the book to his nursery and everyone commented on what a great book it was.
