Review
This is a beautifully constructed book presenting yoga in an easily digestible form. Kisen, the author, has many years of high-profile teaching experience on the English yoga circuit - he was Geri Halliwell's first yoga teacher - and the photographs of him in the book illustrate a proficient yogi who practises what he preaches. The book is user-friendly and easy to dip in and out of. It is set out in eight well-constructed chapters, which follow the same formula of step-by-step photographs accompanied by clear explanations of the postures and practices. Kisen has remained faithful to the title and stuck to the basics. The result is an uncomplicated, useful book with chapter headings as follows: 1. Sun sequences, 2. Standing sequences, 3. Sitting sequences, 4. Inverted sequences, 5. Supine sequences, 6. Relaxation sequences, 7. Meditation sequences, 8. Creating your own sequences. The book is clear and informative, not focusing on any particular yoga tradition but offering a wealth of practical, useful information that will appeal to a large range of yoga students. (Kirkus UK)
