5.0 out of 5 stars Entertaining,amusing & wonderful book., 2 July 2001
This review is from: The Luberon Garden (Hardcover)
Witty and entertaining view on living in the most wonderful place in the world. A book that takes you there within every sentence. Alex describes the area wonderfully with its characters and countryside. Although it has a gardening slant, it is enough to satisfy the enthusiast but not overwhelm the beginner. I thoroughly recommend this book to anyone remotely interested in France and its people.

1.0 out of 5 stars one of the worst books i"ve ever reade, 21 Sep 2002
By A Customer
I rather stupidly persisted through this heavy going slog out of gardening interest, but there wasn't any. It is tedious and badly written in the extreme and desperately in need of an edit: constant mispellings, and whole bits of sentences missing. If you like jokes of the "I patted the lights and turned out the dog" variety, you just might laugh a little, but I couldn't stand it. Vacuous ramblings.

5.0 out of 5 stars Beautifully written, Dingwell-Main encapsulates the Luberon, 4 April 2001
By A Customer
Many books have been written about the Luberon but The Luberon Garden uniquely encapsulates this extraordinary part of France with wit and and an appealing style. Dingwell-Main's sense of humour had me in stiches although he is a serious landscape gardener. Full of vision, his own garden was created from a sloping hill but now is cleverly terraced, mixing the formal with the informal using the traditional plants, trees and shrubs of Provence. I just hope he writes another.
