Product Description

Product Description
Colin McRae was the youngest World Rally Champion ever. This book charts his dramatic and dangerous climb to the pinnacle of success. Colin talks about the skills, the speed, the danger, the friendships, the rivalries, and the adrenalin. This passionate life story takes us from McRae's close family upbringing - within a dynasty of rally drivers - through his early success with Subaru, through his wins with Ford, the much hyped competition with Richard Burns and his incredible lifestyle.

About the Author
Colin McRae was born in Lanarkshire, Scotland in 1968. He won the British Rally Championship for the first time in 1991, became World Champion in 1997 and Safari Rally Champion in 1999. Derick Alsopp has joined forces with his friend Colin McRae to document this incredible sporting story. Derick is the country's foremost motorsport journalist and has written books with many iconic figures in the past.

4.0 out of 5 stars An excellent view of the best in the world, 7 Jan 2002
By A Customer
Colin McRae is still the best rally driver of the current generation and this book gives some inside into why. The format of having additional input from his family and colleagues helps to provide a different perspective to the usual biography and the external insights are particularly illuminating after his massive accident in Corsica in 2000.
The only complaint is that the book ends before the World Championship final rounds. As it was such a nail biting event until Stage 4 of the RAC, the final round, Colin's insight on that is sorely missing.
If you want to know why he is the best read this book.

5.0 out of 5 stars An excellent insight to the worlds best rally driver., 30 Dec 2001
As this type of motor sport is hardley televised on the BBC Sport programes,or any other TV channels, this book is a real eye opener as to what its like being the best british rally driver. Right from the start when he realised that all he was interested in was rallying to the ups and downs as discribed through the years to get to where he is today are well detailed and explained, and for most of the read quite humerous. Untill you read this book you will never realise and appreciate how much hard work Colin Mcrae has given, and the risks he has taken to get Britain up there with the best. A must for all die hard rally fans who support him, and feel they want to get to know him better.
