Product Description

Product Description

Do you like the idea of bacon and eggs for breakfast? Would you enjoy a lunch of roast salmon and a satisfying dinner accompanied by wine? The Eat Fat Get Thin diet will allow you to do just that: the emphasis being on what you eat rather than how many calories the food contains. The rules are simple keep your carbohydrates to a minimum by cutting out bread, potatoes and cereals, leave out the sugar, eat only the good fats and concentrate on protein rich foods. The beauty of the Eat Fat Get Thin diet is that you will never go hungry. Eat Fat Get Thin proves that the diet on which it is most difficult to lose weight is a low-fat high carbohydrate diet. In fact, a century of studies and medical trials has consistently demonstrated that for safe wight loss a high fat diet is best. Eat Fat Get Thin is the diet on which you can reach your desired weight easily and maintain it - for life.

From the Author

Eat Fat, Get Thin -- the natural way to a healthy slim body
Fact: No animal in its natural habitat gets fat. Fact: Obesity is also noticeably absent in primitive human cultures. Fact: The only animals to become overweight on this planet are 'civilised' Man -- and his pets.

This is highly significant.

We do not get fat because we eat too much (although many do). If that were the cause, other species with an ample food supply would also get fat -- yet they don't. In fact, the only animals in their natural environment who are genetically disposed to put on fat are those whose food supply is not guaranteed.

Surely everyone who has lost weight by starving (which is what low-calorie dieting is) only to put it back on again, must know that 'dieting' does not work.

It doesn't work because it is unnatural.

Many animals, including us, have evolved the ability to store energy as fat in case of times when food is scarce. If we do not eat enough the body fights to retain fat. For this reason low-fat, low-calorie dieting forces our bodies to conserve energy -- it is a recipe for weight gain.

The way to lose weight is firstly to eat as much energy as your body needs, and secondly to eat foods that we, as a species, have evolved and are genetically programmed to eat.

Eat Fat, Get Thin! Looks at our evolution; it tells how the body works and why low-fat, low-calorie diets ultimately lead to weight gain; and, lastly it guides the reader on the correct way to eat so that the body's own energy-regulating mechanisms work correctly. Because, if you let it, your body can count calories far more accurately than you can.

At age 62 my wife, Monica, is fit and healthy, eating as much as she wants. She is 5 ft 6 ins tall and weighs just 124 lbs. When a friend, who has been on and off diets for most of her life, found that we lived the way I write about in Eat Fat, Get Thin! she said to Monica: "do you mean you have been dieting for thirty-six years?"

Monica's answer was, "No, we have been eating normally for thirty-six years!"

5.0 out of 5 stars Eat Lard and Live For Ever, 24 Jun 2002
This book turns conventional low calorie dieting on its head.
Instead of reducing the amount we eat and certainly reducing the fat we eat to a minimum, Groves advises reducing only the carbohydrates we eat. In the mean time you can eat as much as you like whenever you like and exercise only if you enjoy it.
I've followed the advice and improved my life style. At last I'm no longer constantly hungry and fatigued.
Groves dispells the cholesterol myth which is now so ingrained in the minds of the public - and warns of the dangers of polyonsaturated fat rather than saturated! An incredible eye opener of a book which has changed my life.

5.0 out of 5 stars Makes perfect sense!, 5 Sep 2003
By A Customer
This is the first time I have ever felt the urge to review a book on dieting - as I have been sceptical (to say the least) of them all really, and usually been proved right!! However, this book has changed my life. I have spent the last 19 years going from one eating disorder to another and the result was a good 5 stone of excess weight, not to mention zero self esteem! I bought this book after reading about the author's views on another subject. I read it through at least 3 times first, researched Barry Groves and his other works on the internet... and then applied his teachings so to speak! The results were amazing and not only in the lost weight, but the reduction in bloating, digestive problems and more importantly sugar and carb cravings. I have watched with great interest the toing and froing over the Atkins Diet lately and would say this is the perfect compromise!! It seems far more balanced and the weight comes off steadily but without any difficulties. More sustainable, I have kept my 5 stone + off now with ease over the past 11 months.

I am now a healthy weight, have changed my eating and cooking habits for life... and my son is so much healthier for it too.....and wholeheartedly feel that leaving behind the current dictate of low fat, (often high sugar) low nutrient eating was the best thing I have ever done. Oh, and by the way, you will see a huge improvement in the condition of your hair, skin and nails as well.

I have never recommended a book before, and I may never recommend one again... but I urge you to read this one! Good Luck!!!!

4.0 out of 5 stars A new way of thinking, undermines the diet religion., 2 Feb 2002
By A Customer
Having failed in so many low fat low calorie diets I had almost decided to stay overweight as I would rather be heavy than stressed and hungry. I picked up this book because after a trip to Siberia (where I lived on fried fat fatty foods) I lost weight.

The book is not the worlds most exciting read but it was good enough to hold me to a one session read. The proof of the pudding is of course in the eating, and whilst it is early days (one month in) I have lost 8lbs and my wife 10lbs.That is without a single hunger pang, bacon and egg for breakfast, cold meat, cheese and salad for lunch and a cooked meal at night. I craved sugar and startch a bit for the first week but now I don't miss it.

If you are tired of the usual crash routine this book is definitely worth a read. No hype just the information needed for you to make your own decision.
