5.0 out of 5 stars Excellent and Simple!, 19 Jan 2003
By A Customer
This book is excellent. Despite being very small, it must be one of the best introductions to Buddhism I have seen.

It is explains the Buddhist view of the "Human condition": anicca (change), dukkha (suffering), and anatta (not-self) with a few sentences and humorous pictures, better than what some books do with lengthy chapters. It explains essential Buddhist teachings (dhamma), Zen concepts and other Buddhist wisdom in the same excellent manner.

Aswell as for the beginner or inquisitive, "Western" practitioners of Buddhism, will find this helpful in reminding them with ovine humour, how to follow the dhamma.

This book may also inspire readers to learn more, about more complex Buddhist teachings...

4.0 out of 5 stars An unsheepish source of enlightenment, 31 Oct 1999
This book is not for the sheepish but rather those who are not fussy about sources of enlightenment. It would appeal to those with a sense of humour based on "the far side.." The key messages and pearls of wisdom are nicely delivered through the medium of humour. My only criticism is that there was not more of it, but it did make me laugh. Not recommended for wooly thinkers though. This is a great bedside book with plenty of food for thought.

5.0 out of 5 stars amusing, 18 Jun 2009
Sometime back, I purchased quite a number of books on Buddhist teachings. Some were of them very useful, some of them were bewildering and some of them just gave me a thumping headache. However, few of them made me smile and laugh, as this one did. There are those who would probably think that a book like this makes light of Buddhism. I would strongly disagree. I thought it was charming, apt and thought-provoking. After all, on the road to spiritual enrichment, you can't be serious all the time, can you? You have to laugh sometimes. I highly recommend it.

A charming gentle book, humorous but profound. As a Christian I should perhaps take a stance against non biblical teaching, but I find a deeper wisdom hidden in this book,... Read more
