Product Description

Amazon.co.uk Review
Brian Jacques and his tremendous Redwall books never cease to amaze: this is the 12th book in the series and it just gets better and better. This time, the interweaving story of a father and a son is told in three parts, starting with a visit to Redwall Abbey by a young hedgehog maid who, by singing a half-remembered song recounting the adventures of a warrior called Luke, begins to unlock some of the mysteries behind the Abbey's early years.

As skilfully executed as all the other Redwall books, The Legend of Luke is a truly magnificent, rampaging, rip-roaring adventure story that gives the heart and mind the kind of aerobic workout normally reserved for a sprint round a playing field. From the very first page the reader just knows that he is in for a treat, and as Jacques skilfully builds his story, cleverly interweaving intricate, imaginative detail with a vast cast of incredible characters who each play a vital role in the unfurling of the tale, there can be no doubt that he is still the true master of his genre.

Excellent as a stand-alone read for anyone new to Redwall, and even better as part of the amazing saga that has captured the imagination of millions since its inception, The Legend of Luke is an absolute must- read for anyone--young or old--who likes their fiction fast and fantastical, and will certainly leave them breathless for more. 5.0 out of 5 stars This is the best Redwall book in the series!, 17 Sep 1999
By A Customer
Well, what can I say?.Except this is the best Redwall book that has been wrote by Brian Jacques. Martin is a brilliant character. Through all of the books written about him his character has become more and more developed. This even beats Martin the Warrior off the top spot as Brian Jacques best book. I love how the action just races along at a hairaising pace, it never stops. And Folgrim he is so interesting. When Martin and his friends first meet him he is so savage and eats vermin. Grossarama!. But after a little love and affection off Chugger and Trimp he becomes a totally different person to who he was beforehand. It's excellent when the creatures sing. Most of the characters' songs have natural rythum and tempo. Brian Jacques is a accomplished balladeer!. It's so clever and ingenious how Brian tells us how Luke use to live in Saint Ninian's and how the tapersty is not really Martin but his grandsire whose name is also Martin. It's so compelling!. All children must read this book. I'm 17 but i'm not one bit ashamed because how can you be when a book is so engrossing and rich in content? Buy it now and read the best Redwall book in the world. I can't wait for thenext one which is supposedly about Lord BrockTree. I can't wait!!!!!

5.0 out of 5 stars This is my all-time favourite redwall!!, 28 Mar 2002
By cool_kyle26@hotmail.com (British Columbia, Canada.) - See all my reviews
Hi, I have read the book, "The Ledgend of Luke" and I absolutly loved it!! It has a perfect blend of action, adventure, and family loyalty.
It starts out with a young stranger coming and singing an old hals-remembered song about a sea-faring warrior by the name of Luke. Martin immediatly sets out to find his long lost father. his venture eventually takes him to the place on the shore where he grew up, from there he learns of a old ship stuck between some giant rocks, a few old friends of Lukes tell him the ledgend of Luke. How he died, where he went, etc.....
All in all this is a great read! I can't find any gripes to complain about, so read on readers..... You won't be dissappointed.
Kyle

5.0 out of 5 stars A new world of fun!, 13 Nov 2001

This is my fav. book of B.J. yet! It takes you into their world and away from school, grades, etc. When you read it it's like a you're in the story sharing hthe joy and pain. Words cannot paint this picture of perfection and so I can only say, this book was a light in a tunnel of darkness. Thank you B.J!

4.0 out of 5 stars A report on what I think of this book.
I think this book is very well written, but uses some hard words and is sometimes quite hard to understand. It is a better read to a Redwall fan than anyone else.
