The book begins when the mother of the two children-Roy & Nicky goes off with her new boyfriend to the beach for a weekend leaving the two children alone with only 20 pounds to spend. When there the mother realises that she shouldn't have left her children alone she runs to try and catch the next train home only she runs across the road and gets hit by a car and is paralised. She remains in acoma for a week and the children get very worried as they thought their mother was only going away for a weekend. The story goes on to tell of how they survived the week wit only 20 pounds and wih nosy neighbours asking dodgy questions....

5.0 out of 5 stars Fantastic!, 8 Oct 1999

This book is a favourite. I would recommend it to around 10-13 year olds. It really is brilliant. All the way through the book you cannot wait to find out what happens next. The way the author writes is just so good.
