Product Description

Product Description

A practical book offering new insights into the working of the horse's mind. It explores the reasons behind the horse's natural likes and dislikes, fears and habits, showing how their love for company has led to a sensitive and complicated use of signals. The "bad" behaviour of horses, says the author, is due to misunderstanding on our part, and to their being kept in natural conditions that cause them stress and unhappiness. She offers an approach to training and dealing with "problem" horses that uses the horse's natural behaviour and encourages harmony and great communication between horse and human. This book show anyone can learn to make a horse happier.

(REAL NAME)
i bought this book many years ago and out of all behaviour books on horses i have read this is the one which has stood out in my mind, has given me a total insight of horse behaviour, this indepth study of horses which has been written in such a way for all to grasp and understand,it has taken me numerous years to obtain a second copy for a gift for someone. This book has given pointers as to why horses behave in a way that is not in their nature when put in certain circumstances.
I cannot praise this book enough to help us understand our equine partners in life and help make their life in this human world more enjoyable for them as this book really makes us understand their needs!!! fantastic book.

4.0 out of 5 stars The Horse's Mind, 17 Nov 2002
This review is from: The Horse's Mind (Paperback)
This is an excellent starting place to understand the basics of the horse's psyche. It is very readable; useful to academics and horse owners alike. It is based on scientific research as well as experiance and observations. It covers why horses behave as they do as well as how to train them. At times it does point out the obvious but this means it is accessable to people who have never met a horse. A must for the bookcase of any horse lover. All they have to do now is bring it back into print.
