2.0 out of 5 stars If you want theory about Des/2k- BUY THIS BOOK!, 13 Jan 1999
By A Customer
This is the only book available on the subject-Des/2k v2.1, at the moment! So the author are making a lot of $$$. I got a feeling that this book is almost theoretical description of the subject without practical samples about how to successfully utilize Des/2k in very big, medium and very small projects (that is what I'm looked for!). The differences from the 1st edition - book is split into two parts. 1st part - theoretical (should be practical!) authors view on the subjects like development cycle - Strategy, Analysis. Seems that this part is almost completely reprinted from 1st edition. The second part that could be called: Designer for Dummies - authors continue to explain how to arrange entities on the diagram and where to press the <Generate> button! :( Of course the book have some good chapters! But my feeling is that much more practical (useful!) information you can get from Oracle conferences, by becoming member of Oracle user groups, like ODTUG, and from CDM references! The Strategy and Analysis using Des/2k are subjects Oracle want us to pay much more than just $50. As a handbook I can rate it only with two points!
