Product Description

Product Description
Principles of Economics, European Edition, develops the well regarded US textbook by Frank and Bernanke to reflect the issues and context of economics in Europe.

The book presents concepts intuitively using examples drawn from familiar contexts. It relies throughout on a well articulated shortlist of 12 core principles which are reinforced by real-world examples. Review questions, exercises and problems encourage students to apply these principles in a variety of contexts.

The text encourages students to become “economic naturalists”, people who employ basic economic principles to understand and explain what they observe in the world around them. The “economic naturalist” approach helps students develop concepts and illustrates their applications in a real world setting.

Features of this edition:

  • Including an extended chapter on oligopoly theory within the microeconomics section
  • Core Principles emphasised throughout the text to reinforce key ideas
  • An Active Learning Approach, with exercises, review questions and problems in every chapter, encourage students to apply their knowledge as they work through the topics

    About the Author

4.0 out of 5 stars The Essential Text for Would-Be Economists, 27 Sep 2002
This fairly meaty companion to economics degree courses provides a thorough grounding in all the major principles of economics, from game theory to fiscal policy, greatly reducing the number of lectures you need to attend and increasing the amount of 'lie-ins' you can get away with. Whether you're an absolute beginner in the field or an economics 'know-it-all', this text will provide you with ample information to succeed in your degree. The format also provides attractive reading and the 'naturalist examples' are useful real-life applications of the basic principles, allowing the reader to utilise the information as they learn. For those looking for an easily accessible text, this book is structured so that you have no need to read what you're uninterested in!

Luckily, this text is a hardback, since the amount of use it will receive will mean it gets a little worn! Principles of Economics is the essential text for would-be economists or just those with a slight interest in the field.
