This is a very place for beginners to start but to learn about compilers you will need more than this book. The book covers most of the theory behind compiler construction. It doesn't go into the same level as other texts, but that's a good thing. It is easier to understand than most other texts. The main drawback is that it doesn't cover grammars, or lex and yacc in enough detail. Also it is relatively short compared to other texts, and so you mightn't feel like you're getting good value for money.
