Product Description

Learn object-oriented programming in no time with help from this easy-to-understand guide, ideal for novice and expert programmers alike. Discover why objects are so successful as the model for this type of programming and how objects are classified. Distinguish between how people see the world and how computers “see” it. Learn about attributes and methods, inheritance, polymorphism, real-world and case modeling, object-oriented programming languages, and much more. Each chapter ends with a quiz, culminating in a final exam at the end of the book so you can test your knowledge.

From the Back Cover

The fast and easy way to understanding the fundamentals of OOP

Want to learn about object-oriented programming quickly and easily? Looking to brush up on modeling, classes, and attributes? Then OOP Demystified is the easy-to-understand, step-by-step guidebook that will help you figure out the ins-and-outs of object-oriented programming (OOP).

Written for anyone without formal training in the subject, OOP Demystified teaches complex OOP topics in clear, plain language—from the reasons why objects are successful as models for programming to case modeling, class diagrams, interfaces, and much more. The authors leave out unnecessary, time-consuming information to deliver the essentials you need to begin and maintain all your OOP projects.

Simple enough for a beginner, but challenging enough for an advanced student, OOP Demystified is your shortcut to mastering object-oriented programming.

This one-of-a-kind self-teaching text offers:

  • An easy way to understand OOP
  • A quiz at the end of each chapter
  • A final exam at the end of the book
  • No unnecessary technical jargon
  • A time-saving approach

2.0 out of 5 stars It must be me........, 4 April 2009
By B. Adams (Surrey) - See all my reviews
(REAL NAME)
I've learned to accept the "hey buddy let's learn somethin" style that these sort of books have and I was quite enjoying having my hand held through the initial stumbling steps of what OOP is all about.

But then suddenly the book took an enormous leap forward and left me behind even though I read and re-read the passages. I couldn't recover my place. Not much use going on when the subject can only present you with even more difficult concepts.

I didn't like the constant comparison in the text between C++ and Java. I would have preferred it to have kept to one of them with maybe an appendix at the end showing how other languages express the same ideas.

Although new to OOP, trust me I am no fool but I just haven't got the time to waste wrestling with unexplained concepts and so I can't recommend it even though it was under £8

Since the other reviewer thought it was tops I suppose it must be me.........

5.0 out of 5 stars Excellent coverage of OOP, 28 Sep 2007
By Keith Roberts (Norfolk UK) - See all my reviews
(REAL NAME)
Brilliant. This book is very well written, and explains the concepts of OOP in a very good clear to understand manner. It took me three passes through the book for things to gel. I still referer to it as a reference. I would highly recommend this book to anyone wanting to get to grips with the fundamentals of OOP.
