Most Helpful Customer Reviews   7 of 7 people found the following review helpful: 4.0 out of 5 stars Good Study guide, but (too) quickly released, 3 Mar 2002 By A Customer I bought this book because it was the first study guide (and in fact the first book) available on Metaframe XP. It's easy to see that this book has been quickly written, and not (enough) reviewed before printing. Here are a few examples : - Page 5 and 8, the author talk about the IMA protocol using port UDP 2512. In the rest of the book, he wrote TCP 2512. So what is IMA using ? TCP or UDP ?(or both ??) look at page 125 : a self-test question is talking about these ports and if you look at the answers page 130, you see " The answer D (that is, UDP 2512) is incorrect because it is not used by metaframe for any fonction"... - Page 148 : The Author says "Data collectors are chosen via elections much like NT domain controllers and Metaframe 1.x ICA master Browsers" Well, if you've ever seen a NT network where DC's choose themselves via elections, call me !! - Page 528 : (Last chapter, troubleshooting )The 10 first lines explains what is the Citrix Management Console. Arrived at that point, I'm not really sure that the reader still need some explanations about the CMC. So, why did I put 4 stars ?? Well, it's netherless a good book if you want to learn Metaframe XP. It cover all Metaframe XP aspects, and it really help me to get the CCA certification. Gale "dgale25" (London) - See all my reviews (REAL NAME)    Having attended an approved CCA course a year prior to taking the exam I found that the guide enabled me to undergo a structured revising program. Slightly worrying, there are some errors in the self-test exams but in a strange way these help to commit the subject to memory especially if you are forced to re-read a chapter or source the information elsewhere. I would suggest that this is not the only book that you would require to pass the exam but it's probabaly unwise to use just one source of information in any case. The Sybex book Citrix Metaframe XP 1.0 Administration was a useful companion. If you are averaging >95 % for each of the tests in both books you will be well on your way to passing the CCA exam. The amount of technical inaccuracies and spelling mistakes (and we aren't talking American English here!) are unforgivable. Very disappointing, unless you have a good knowledge of these products beforehand you might not know you were being led astray. Utter tripe.
