I bought the Authors other book (Instant ASP Scripts). - Solid code, easily discected and relatively easy to understand (if you can't follow the code alone the author walks you through it in the book). I havn't spend a lot of time with this book, but am just placing an order after an extensive read of a colleagues copy. The source code on the CD doesn't apear to tie up to well with the chapters of the book - you have to work out what goes with what yourself. I would have prefered to have seen the source code split by chapter headings.

This is an excellent book for those who know something about COM and VB components, but are more interested in how it all works in ASP. Don't expect explanations on the merits or background of COM, or it's use with MTS (I suggest VB COM by T Lewis from Wrox as an excellent begin for this). Rather the author goes straight into the VB side of the component and then the ASP code to go with it. Not a book to be read with your mind closed, as the principles of the code go far beyond the scope of each component. The author could have provided more information on the 'real world' application of the components, but I accept that this was not the objective of the book. The CD is cumbersome, but not too difficult to work out on your own.
