Book Description

Accelerated learning is an approach to teaching and training that actively involves the whole person, using music, color, emotion, play, and creativity, as part of the training classroom, in order to accelerate the learning process. Although the concepts behind accelerated learning were developed in the 1970's, and a best-selling book has been written (Accelerated Learning by Colin Rose), there has been, to date, no comprehensive book published on accelerated learning for trainers and teachers. The Accelerated Learning Handbook will be the definitive book on the subject for trainers and teachers. Author Dave Meier is the president of the Center for Accelerated Learning, and is the leading guru of accelerated learning in the world, holding seminars for thousands of trainers, course designers, and consultants around North America. The Accelerated Learning Handbook explains, with dozens of practical tips and techniques. The book includes an overview of the background and underlying principles of accelerated learning, a review of how the latest brain research supports accelerated learning theory, and many examples of how it is being used in corporations to speed up training time, improve learning, and reduce costs. The heart of the book provides trainers with over 200 accelerated learning techniques that involve the emotions and all 5 senses of learners, in the learning process.

5.0 out of 5 stars THE book on accelerated learning in business - a vital read, 7 Sep 2000
By A Customer
Dave Meier's twenty five years experience in the business of helping people make more of their learning really shows in this must-have volume. Where other authors may present theories and good intentions, Meier comes up with ultra-practical and proven ideas which have helped me many times. Add to this a great grasp of the development of accelerated learning methods and an excellent list of worldwide resource suppliers and expertise, and we have a milestone. If you're serious about learning, you'll want to buy, use and recommend this book. I've been using these ideas professionally for over ten years, and this is the finest distillation I've yet tasted.

5.0 out of 5 stars Business Trainers Look No Further, 20 Nov 2000
By A Customer
If you want to make your training both easier and more effective - for you and your trainees - then this is for you. If you expect an Accelerated Learning book to be varied, readable, inspiring and eminently practical, then you will be delighted. Add to that a simple, highly-accessible model for applying it all to programme design, plus literally hundreds of exercise ideas, tips and resources, and you'll wish you got hold of this book years ago. As someone who has been using AL for some time, but only discovered Dave Meier's model a year ago, I was eagerly awaiting his first book, with high expectations. As you can tell, I was not disappointed. Read this to give yourself more time, less stress, and happier and more motivated learners.

5.0 out of 5 stars Brilliant, easy to read and use!, 2 Mar 2002
If you only buy one book on accelerated learning make it this one!

I purchased 5 books and this one was by far the best laid out, easiest to read and digest. With sections on perp, presentation, practice and performance and with lots of practical activities which you can put into practice its well worth taking the time out to read!
