Product Description

Product Description

Studies have shown that the key to profitable online strategies is content - how it is displayed, and how it is written and illustrated. The important question about content is "what makes good web content and what doesn't"? You might have a great idea or product, but how can content be developed that will appeal on a computer screen rather than in a store or in a catalogue? The author shares his proven methods for building content that responds to the changing needs of the consumer and offers proven strategies for bringing consumers and products together on the Web.

From the Back Cover

In just five years the Internet has grown into a medium that rivals television for its impact on marketing. The answer to the question "Can I make money on the Internet" is an emphatic yes. And the time to market your product, your service'or your ideas'is now! Make Your Website Work For You offers a practical, easy-to-follow business plan for profiting from the new sales opportunities in cyberspace.

You'll find the basic rules for online marketing and the reasons why content marketing works. You'll learn to create content that drives consumers to your site and sells products, and how to track and use consumer information to build profits both on- and off-line. "Content is King," advises author Cannon, who presents ten simple steps for developing and managing effective content. Discover how to optimize your site's "metatags" so that search engines draw the greatest number of contacts.

Find out if "micro-sites" placed on other websites will attract more business than a site of your own. And understand how e-mail and electronic newsletters can promote your site economically and efficiently. Written for marketing and advertising professionals as well as entrepreneurs, Make Your Website Work For You is free of confusing technical jargon. With solid, step-by-step directions, clear illustrated screenshots, dramatic case studies and a complete list of online resources, it's an invaluable toolbox for creating a dynamic, profitable website of your own.

5.0 out of 5 stars Thorough, but understandable, 14 April 2000

(REAL NAME)
A very comprehensive book, written from the marketing standpoint, on how to make a success of your website. The book highlights that "Content is King", and certainly the content of this book is approaching regal status! The book takes the concept of starting a web-page and guides you through the myriad of pitfalls that you may encounter in a simple and understandable manner; the author corrects the misconception that many web-sites have, of going 'on-line' before the research has been completed and specifically targeting your website to specific interest groups.

How refreshing it is to find someone who writes computer books that anyone can understand - and you do not need a degree in "Nerdism" to get beyond page one!
