Product Description
Written by soccer great and championship Stanford coach Bobby Clark, COACHING YOUTH SOCCER: THE BAFFLED PARENT'S GUIDE tells you how, starting at point zero, an uninitiated coach can meld kids into a team and help them enjoy one of the most rewarding experiences of their youth. (In the end, you may be the one who reaps the biggest reward, as you watch kids learn and grow in an experience they'll treasure for a lifetime.)

Book Description
The text of this book allows a coach to fit drills and skill-building exercises to players of various ages and abilities, and to build on those skills at each practice. Later chapters provide advanced drills and strategies a coach can pick throughout the season. Discussions will deal with motivational, gender, and age differences, and the comprehensive art program will be ethnically diverse.

2.0 out of 5 stars Baffled buyer, 6 Nov 2002
By A Customer
This book is a U.S. publication and therefore aimed firmly at the U.S. market. U.K. buyers beware. The Baffled Parents Guide to Coaching Youth Soccer is mainly aimed at basics rules, basic skills and numerous practice drills with wacky names, including Glasgow Kisses! Disappointly the book does not cover tactics or how the drills translate to a match situation. I would say the book will benefit those parents who have no idea about the game. If you have progressed past the basics you will want to know more about positional play, team shape, keeping possession, tactics, what to do at set pieces, etc. If that is what you are after you are likely to remain a Baffled Parent if you buy this book!
