From the Author
DIRECT, PERSONAL EXPERIENCES INSPIRED THIS BOOKAfter 20 years as CEO of a successful export trading company I had the unique and valuable experience of being invited to initiate government small business export programs on two occasions. The first was the California Export Finance Office, known and emulated throughout the U.S. My experiences there discovered a need which inspired the widely recognized book: Exporting from Start to Finance, now in its 3rd Edition. The second start-up was the first Small Business Export Development Center, a joint venture of SBA and the State of California. In the course of consulting there with many smaller businesses and trading companies starting or expanding their overseas sales, I saw the need for an export book directed at this audience, written by a practicing exporter, reinforced through the experience of helping many different kinds of exporters with vastly different problems and products, worldwide.
That is what Selling to the World is all about. It is based on hard-learned trading company experiences and travel, tempered by an understanding of what most small businesses want to know and need to know about their international trade. It covers all areas of export but emphasizes marketing, innovative product introduction strategies and where and how to get help. It also cover the procedures and precautions of importing. In all areas it incorporates personal anecdotes to dramatize key points. Selling to the World includes an introduction to the world regions and countries from an exporter's perspective, showing where the greatest roadblocks are and where the sailing is smoother. I guarantee you will like it!
