Product Description

Product Description

This work emphasizes problem-solving and offers coverage of descriptive, experimental and applied research methods: statistical principles are also featured. It examines the strengths and weaknesses of various approaches to research and the need to use different methods to answer different questions. This edition includes new material on the ethics of conducting research, writing research papers and using the Internet to do research and meta-analysis.

From the Publisher

-Multi-method approach- emphasizes the strengths and weaknesses of different research methods and the need to use different methods to answer research questions.
-Problem-solving approach- students learn how to solve problems and answer research questions rather than having them learn to apply rigid procedures or doing research.
-Clarity through examples- vivid examples are drawn from a variety of areas of psychology.
-Flexible organization- each chapter is largely self-contained.
-Integrated approach to statistics- introduces students to statistical concepts within the chapter covering the research method for which the statistic is used, taught "in context".
-New material on ethics of conducting research.
-Improved section on writing the research paper; incorporates latest changes to the "Publication Manual of the American Psychological Association."
-Section on how to use the internet to do research and meta-analysis.
-World Wide Web home page.

5.0 out of 5 stars A good reference book to have in your bookshelves!, 7 Oct 2001
By A Customer
I really love this book. Especially the sections on experimental methods when they talk about designing experiments are easy to understand, and they broke down to the level that I, with the knowledge of a bite of undergrad statistics, can understand. Now I can refer to this book whenever I have questions with my research.
