Product Description

Synopsis
This is the solutions manual to a text which presents many of the algorithms and techniques fundamental to the design and analysis of computer networks. The focus of the main text is on algorithms which are applicable across many networking architectures rather than on specific technologies. This book concentrates on network design and methodologies for developing voice and data networks. It includes pseudo-code descriptions of the algorithms and their component functions and data structures. The text also provides realistic applications of algorithms via a software tool for graphical displays of networks, written in C for IBM PCs and compatibles.

5.0 out of 5 stars A Rare Insight into Network Design Theory, 25 Nov 2000
By A Customer
This small book contains a collection of technical material on network design rarely found published. It provides complete examples of algorithms used for designing and optimising network topologies, together with theoretical material on performance and availability. The code example are pseudocode (unfortunately), but fairly easy to translate into C. The text is concise, well put together and well presented by an acknowledged expert in this field.

This book is really aimed at students, researchers and practising engineers. To avoid dissapointment it is not for high level network designers tryng to figure out how OSPF works without a coding background. The emphasis should be placed on the word 'Algorithms' in the title. Although a little dated, for those involved in topology analysis/optimisation or in actually building a real network design/simulation tool this is however a gem. I lost my copy on a plane and I want it back!
