5.0 out of 5 stars One of the most comprehensive dictionaries I have seen., 29 Dec 2000
This dictionary has everything that I would expect from Collins. As a Student of German at Bristol University I found it especially useful in searching for the very specialised vocabulary we are expected to deal with. Other dictionaries do not stand up to this challenge, and this is the only publication I would heartily recommend. I am sure that all will agree that this dictionary is worth the outlay and then some!

At First, I thought I would end up buying just another bunch of big in size but small in content dictionary , but fortunately, I'm wrong. I cannot help but to compare it with Oxfod-Duden Concise edition and Langenscheidt dictionary. I'm glad that I'm not making the wrong choice. When comparing with abovementioned title, I found that harper-collins has many advantages than disadvantages. First and foremost is, the dictionary include suggestions, I repeat - many suggestions on how to use certain words in certain phrases or sentences be it in english or german. And as a student of this language who must acquire good proficiency before furthering my study in germany, I found this dictionary rather encouraging and totally exhaustive in contents. But I'm always wishing that this good dictionary will be available in a lighter in weight than this heavier one. perhaps compact disc anyone?
