5.0 out of 5 stars A fantastic summary of personal development ideas, 28 Aug 2000
By dsbatchelor@aol.com (Aylesbury, Great Britain) - See all my reviews
If you want to improve any part of your life this book will help.

Writing in the form of a short, story Robin S Sharma has put together virtually every technique and technology in personal development.

If you are new to self-development, this book will give you a simple guide to the ideas that will help you improve all areas of your life and help you decide on other areas that you will want to study.

If you are already a keen reader or student of self-development ideas this book will act as a resume for all the ideas you have learned, but may have forgotten.

An absolutly top read. Don't just buy it for yourself, buy an extra copy for a friend - they'll thank you for it.

5.0 out of 5 stars Good Book, 31 May 2008
By Steven R. McEvoy "MCWPP" (Canada) - See all my reviews
(TOP 1000 REVIEWER)    (REAL NAME)
This is an interesting story. It is a story of a lawyer who appears to have it all - the corner office, the life style, the cars, women, ... Then he gives it all up and tours the East. While there he comes across this strange monk and monastery. He comes to live life in a much different way. Yet he is challenged by the monk who has trained him to go back home and share the message he has learnt, with the West. Julian, our main character, returns to his old law firm and to his prot?g? John. He tells him a parable; then the rest of the book explains the parable and how it relates to different aspects of our lives. The parable is rather simple and a little strange but as it is explained you will never forget it. Read it to find out how a garden, lighthouse, sumo wrestler, pink wire cable, stopwatch, roses and a winding path of diamonds are symbols of timeless principles and virtues by which to live your life. This book could help raise the quality of your life to a new level.

5.0 out of 5 stars Life changing book, 4 Jun 2009
Don't be put off by the title as I was to begin with. This is not a religious book.
This book by Robin Sharma takes the form of a story to teach a new way of living. I don't think the narrative is particularly slick but I do love the wisdom and ideas that are put across very well.
I read the book very quickly two years ago and I am still using the techniques that I learnt. It is highly recommended for anyone who wants to live more deliberately.
