Product Description
Synopsis
What does it mean to feel at home, truly present with our selves, comfortable with our choices, and alive to the possibilities of conscious change? How can we develop inner balance and connection, keeping our boundaries clear while opening our hearts to those we love? Melody Beattie addresses these questions, in the hope of guiding us to a higher level of living and loving, and showing us how to be at home with ourselves wherever we are in the world. Through positive, true stories and take-action exercises including journaling, visualizations, affirmations, meditations and prayers, Beattie seeks to provide practical tools which should help us discover our own sense of home. She attempts to show us how to release ourselves from self-defeating attitudes and encourage the growth of our self-acceptance and compassion.

4.0 out of 5 stars A Spiritual Journey Towards Happiness, 30 Dec 2001
By A Customer
The author uses her own personal experiences following the tragic death of her son to show how out of the depths of our grief and aloneness, we can heal ourselves, and go on to live life to the full.

1.0 out of 5 stars Complete and utter guff., 6 Oct 2004
By A Customer
I borrowed this book from a friend who had said she'd found it useful.

I found it to be full of random statements taken out of context, and various hand-wavy ideas that don't hold up to any scrutiny and followed up by pages upon pages of interviews with people who just happen to agree with the author.

I feel the whole book could have been boiled down to a small pamphlet by a decent editor. It would probably be a lot more useful in that form too.
