I have read all Ms Ranney's books and can truthfully say that this was NOT one of her better ones. An earl suspecting that his brothers has been posioned and that he is next proposes to marry a girl he has never met but ends up liking the girl's companion better. Something I have never done before but I even on occasions skipped several pages just to get to the end just to see if he was right and if/who the murderer was.
