Product Description

From the Publisher

"A Night Without Armor"
Writing poems and keeping journals since childhood, Jewel has been searching for truth and meaning, turning to her words to record, to discover, and to reflect. In "A Night Without Armor," her first collection of poetry, Jewel explores the fire of first love, the fading of passion, the giving of trust, the lessons of betrayal, and the healing of intimacy. She delves into matters of the home, the comfort of family, the beauty of Alaska, and the dislocation of divorce. And then there are the images of the road, the people, the bars, the planes, places exotic and mundane, loneliness and friendship. Frank and honest, serious and suddenly playful, "A Night Without Armor" is a talented artist's intimate portrait of what makes us uniquely human. --This text refers to an out of print or unavailable edition of this title.

From the Author

"A Night Without Armor"
I've learned that not all poetry lends itself to music--some thoughts need to be sung only against the silence. There are softer and less tangible parts of our selves that are so essential to peace, to openheartedness, to unfolding the vision and the spiritual realm of our lives, to exposing our souls. --This text refers to an out of print or unavailable edition of this title.

3.0 out of 5 stars Tranfixing, magical and breathtakingly honest, 12 Sep 2000
By A Customer
This review is from: A Night Without Armor (Audio CD)
A brilliant combination of breath-taking honesty and simplicity, these poems really strike at the heart. It is tranfixing and magic, a wonderful realisation that there is real understanding out there, and your own soul is something to be grasped, philsophised and even changed! Simply by listening!

5.0 out of 5 stars Purely innocence maintained in words, 27 May 2001

Her music is sincere, absloute and succinct. If I could tell the world just one thing - it would be to buy this book. Support someone who writes feelings instead of a snappy chorus to boost them into the charts. Jewel is deservedly recognised as a talent.

5.0 out of 5 stars not all great but w/ quite considerable highlights, 3 April 2000
By A Customer
This review is from: Night Without Armor CD (Audio CD)
Okay - some of the poems here are awful. Some are dull. But there are some, about a dozen, maybe more, that are just absolutely superb. Achingly beautiful, perfectly worded, or whatever, these poems make up for the somewhat self-indulgent dross of therest. 5 stars for a third of the book, 1 star for the rest. I am both a Jewel fan and a lover of poetry. So for me this was hotly anticipated, slightly disappointing, but still thoroughly worth it.
