5.0 out of 5 stars Nothing is better..., 20 May 1999
By A Customer
This is one of the greatest books of all time. I am kind of like Garth. I play magic the gathering often, and stick to the "old school" cards. nothing in my deck is newer than Alliances, and thats just 4 cards! All of my mana is in Revised, as well as most of my cards. I am also a Hanin (better than joining people...I am a leader not a follower) as I challenge whole houses in my league (5 houses), with the average house having 5 people. I am so powerful that I could become the Grand Master (level 10 with new cards), but am not willing to be a servant of our Walker...a guy who lives for magic and nothing else (has every set!!! Even Alpha, Beta, Legends, Arabian Nights, everything!!!!!!!)...I am a 11th Rank pretty hard to get, but even if Garth was real he would still smoke me!!! In my opinion this book is "da BOMB" as it explains everything in detail, every spell, every move, every breath... You don't need to know how to play magic to understand this book. All in all this book should be given a 10 at least!!! Nothing is better NOTHING!!!

Jonathan

5.0 out of 5 stars YOU DO NOT HAVE TO PLAY MAGIC TO READ THIS BOOK, 16 Feb 1999
By A Customer
I do play Magic: The Gathering, a card game based on magical spells. I do not love this book because it deals with Magic: The Gathering----I love this book because it is so darn good! The cleverness of all the characters and the emotions in the book are so great. I love this book so much and I hope you try it because if you do you will love yourself for buying it. And if you don't want to buy it you could try looking in a library, but I don't think many carry it. Do anything to get this book. Murder, extortion, prostitution, anything!!!!!

5.0 out of 5 stars well written, touching, adventurous book, 16 Feb 1999
By A Customer
This is definitely one of the best books I have ever read. It's characters are well thought out and their interactions are so believable and intriguing! Then main character is Garth One-eye, later found to be Galin, son of the former Master of one of the fighting house of Magic, who was murdered along with the rest of his house for the greed of one man who sought great power. Garth comes to seek revenge on him, and with the help of Hammen and many others he succeeds. It is too difficult to explain all the different parts of this book because so many characters and events are involved. I almost cried about Garth's loss and was overjoyed when he defeated his enemies and banished the corruption that engulfed his world. I will bet you anything that once you read the first chapter of this book you will know I am right, that this book is one of the greatest ever written. Try it. You will read it again and again.
