5.0 out of 5 stars A clear and sane discussion of CFIDS, 27 Sep 1998
By A Customer
Even if I wasn't coping with Chronic Fatigue syndrome myself, I would still have read this--anything by the mega-talented Pellegrino is worth a look. But it's a valuable addition to a field that is still sadly undocumented. Besides the fine "Osler's Web" by Hillary Johnson, this is one of the few books to explain Chronic Fatigue Immune Dysfunction Syndrome as a biochemical problem that can be addressed and treated. Anyone who has had to cope with this devastating condition knows the dismissive, even contemptuous attitude of much of the medical profession--(it's all psychogenic, so get thee to a psychiatrist!) Pellegrino approaches his own CFIDS the way he does all the other topics he has written about so brilliantly--like a fascinating mystery to be investigated and charted. As a plus, he and Dr. Stoff offer some sane, balanced advice for living with this problem, right down to sensible recipes. If you've ever suspected you might be dealing with CFIDS, pick up this book. If you already know you do, this book is essential reading. Pellegrino has done it again! This book is as valuable as Randy Shilts' "And the Band Played On."

5.0 out of 5 stars Understanding CFS & seeing a light at the end of the tunnel, 21 Oct 2004
By A Customer
This book is highly informative, not only about the symptoms, obvious and subtle, that can present themselves but also about things that you can do to help ease the symptoms/improve the conditions. It provides a valuable insight into all aspects of the condition by providing a considerable amount of detail. I found it an invaluable tool to understand the condition and as a reference book.
