5.0 out of 5 stars big mouth , big heart, 16 Aug 2006
By Pink Minx "pink minx" (Staffs England) - See all my reviews
Have you ever let your mouth run away with you? This is what happens to our heroine Lizzie. She has a big heart and tries to say the right thing, but being so naive it always ends up doing more harm than good. Lizzie is slightly unbelievable in the beginnning of the book. No-one who has been to university, no matter how plump they were wouldn't, couldn't possibly be that naive. But the novel does pick up to the standard that we hae come to know and love from Meg Cabot. So we are left with the warm fuzzies.

4.0 out of 5 stars A Great Read for Meg Cabot Fans, 12 Dec 2006

I brought this book and read it in three days. I had already read Size 12 is not fat so I thought I would give this one a go. I think the book is very good and easy to read and is also funny in places. It is written typically of Meg Cabot and her style. The main character is likeable and so are the others. The Grandma is especially funny though. It is also quite an inspirational read too.It is however quite predictable in places. Read it if you're looking for something light and easy and not too challenging.

5.0 out of 5 stars Very Breathless!!, 17 April 2007
This review is from: Queen of Babble (Paperback)
I read this book in a day (well a day and a bit) because i seriously couldn't put it down. And i don't mean that in a metaphorical way i mean it flowed so easily and moved so quickly that there never seemed a right moment in the narrative to take a break! Reading this novel was like shopping in the trafford centre, on a very unique sale day, where everything is something you like; even though sometimes u might want to stop because your feet are hurting or because you're hungry and want to stop for food or a drink you know that there is something wonderful around the corner and you just can't stop yourself. You think "right after this chapeter i'll put it down, oh no wait i'll just read this bit."

It's bittersweet really because while the book is so entertaining and so breathless it pulls you along with it and you enjoy yourself, i read it so quickly that it was over, done, and there was nothing more left to read, no more of the story to discover and no more laughs to be had. I don't read Meg Cabot's children's stories and i'm of the same age group as the people in the book 23, and like the main character i'm desperately trying to finish my degree (i have a point i promise!) so the swearing and the sex scenes (there are only 2, although i'm not sure you could call one of them a sex scene) didn't bother me. But the way Lizzie thinks and the way she acts i relate to very much, Meg cabot has captured very well the soul of a 22 year old overly energetic young girl. And although the main characters are all american it isn't as annoying as you might think as the american quirks are the funny ones we like and they are kept to a minimum so lizzie is indeed very likeable. And the plot is very funny although obviously it follows along in all the classic chick lit traditions (come on we all knew who she was gonna end up with!). But we all love it. You don't pick up a chick lit book expecting your world to be changed but they are fabulous and deserve way more respect than the term chick lit implies.

A very fun, quick, breathless, chicky-type read. Won't change your world, will entertain and keep you interested, and the quotes at the beg of each chapter are very smile inducing.
